The Protocol: Taylor Lamb + Jewel Zimmer
Our series featuring the daily routines, expert advice, and beauty tips of industry insiders (read: those who’ve got it down to a science). Because we should all have a Protocol.
They're mothers and career women, and they're busy redefining women's wellness with plant power. From theta therapy to detox protocols, Taylor Lamb and Jewel Zimmer, aka the duo behind Juna, reveals the rituals that keep them balanced and glowing, day after hectic day.
What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
Taylor: Kiss my babies, tongue scrape, and splash cold water on my face to help wake me up!
Jewel: I spend five minutes in theta. Theta is the brain wave frequency that exists when you're in a deeply relaxed subconscious mind. It’s the best time to tap into intuition, manifest, and project positive thoughts.
What are some of your top go-to products?
Taylor: The SUPER Hydrator, Juna Detox Drops, Milk Makeup Kush Brow Gel, FreeYourself Eau de Parfum in Terre, Westman Atelier highlight stick, Merit Flush Balm Blush in Persimmon, HydraFacials, Biodance hydrogel mask, Detox Enzymes, The PLASMA Lip Compound, and Nightcap Sleep Gummies.
Jewel: The PLASMA Lip Compound comes everywhere with me; Juna Detox Digestive Enzymes so I can combat bloat on demand no matter where I am; my Crown Affair No.003 hair brush.
Describe your morning and evening skincare routines.
Taylor: My morning non-negotiables for a dewy, fresh-faced (fast) look are: Vitamin C serum, The SUPER Hydrator by U Beauty, a good tinted SPF, Merit Flush Balm Blush in Persimmon, tinted brow gel (lately the Milk Makeup Kush fiber gel), brown mascara, and The PLASMA Lip Compound. Then I use a little Westman Atelier highlight stick, a spritz of hydration face spray, and slick my hair back in a low bun.
On most mornings, I'm getting ready in under 15 mins since I have to get the kids ready and off to school.
At night, I’ll typically use a Vitamin A retinol (or the Resurfacing Compound), a great hydrating eye cream, and then organic castor oil on my brows and lashes. For nights when I have a little extra time, I love a good epsom salt bubble bath and a Korean face mask!
Jewel: I’m always racing the clock in the mornings trying to get ready for work and get my youngest out the door, so I like to keep it as simple and effective as possible! I usually splash cold water on my face with a light cleanser, apply The SUPER Hydrator by U Beauty for a dewy look, and sunscreen. I love Ogee’s Sculpted Complexion Stick for a natural look and Charlotte Tilbury’s bronzer and highlighter duo.
At night I double-cleanse, followed by a lymphatic/sculpting massage. I love tips from @julieciviellopolier on Instagram. I always apply U Beauty’s Resurfacing Compound for my retinol, vitamin C and antioxidants, followed by a peptide-rich moisturizer and eye cream.
What's your diet like on a typical day?
Taylor: On a typical day, I’ll wake up and reset my body with a large glass of Detox water (Detox drops + 8oz of purified water) or Detox Green Tea (Detox Drops + sencha green tea).
Then I’ll supplement with two Gut Therapy capsules and head out of the house with either my Green Tea or Black Coffee since I practice intermittent fasting.
For mornings when I do reformer pilates, I’ll usually bring a fasting bar like this one and snack before lunch on some green olives and pistachios. For lunch, I will take two capsules of Detox Enzymes (to aid in digestion, debloat, and boost nutrient absorption) and eat leftovers from last night’s dinner or else avocado toast, fish tacos, or a tuna sandwich. I’m always in back-to-back meetings so I typically eat at my desk.
For dinner, I’ve been mixing it up with Green Chef meals and love how you can get organic options and customize them to your diet (I bounce between paleo and Mediterranean). For nights I like a little sweet treat. I’ve been loving these easy pistachio yogurt bars I saw on TikTok and have been making them for my kids, too!
Jewel: As a Brain Health Coach, my mental wellbeing and productivity are always top of mind! I start my day with four capsules of Juna’s Gut Therapy to balance cortisol (lowers stress and boosts metabolism) and optimize my gut/brain connection. I intuitively intermittent-fast every morning.
For the first seven hours of the day, I alternate between water with Juna’s Detox Drops and Matcha, to which I’ll often add these Minerals from Moon Juice. My husband is a chef, so I typically eat incredible farm-to-table meals prepared at home. My go-to snacks are goji berries and dark chocolate.
What’s the last thing you do before you go to bed?
Taylor: Every night before bed I take my Nightcap Sleep Gummies and do either some lymphatic stimulation with my dry brush, or a fascia massage on my legs. The Nightcap Sleep Gummies are loaded with powerful plants that are science-backed to increase level-three deep sleep. This is the stage of sleep where your cells renew, skin included. It’s so amazing for helping me wake up feeling and looking refreshed.
Jewel: Every night before bed I take five minutes to write in a gratitude journal. So much chaos can happen in a day, it’s nice to take a minute and focus on the positive. Juna’s Nightcap Sleep Gummies are a non-negotiable for the best sleep. My Oura ring amazes me every morning with a 90-94 score when I use these!
Who’s your beauty idol?
Taylor: Of course @tinachencraig who is somehow aging in reverse.
Jewel: Definitely Tina Chen Craig!
Who are some people you follow for inspiration (influencers or otherwise)?
Taylor: @camillestyles for the best recipes and healthy lifestyle inspo. @cocoschiffer; she used to intern for me at Lunya and has become my style icon! @courtneygrow and @valerialipovetsky can do no wrong. Obviously, @juna.world since we take the best wellness info and make it all beautiful! Love finding new wellness products from @healthillie.
Jewel: @mollysims for style. I remember she came into a spa I worked at in my early twenties called International Orange. All the girls were obsessed with her skin and adopted her recommendations, and I've been a fan ever since. I also love following her mom life. @joedispenza for motivation.
What’s the highest-maintenance aspect of your beauty protocol?
Taylor: The monthly microneedling and hydrafacials.
Jewel: The lymphatic and sculpting facial massage I’ve been incorporating into my nightly routine. Time consuming but worth it! Another person I follow for sculpting tutorials is Shelly Marshall @beautyshamans on IG.
What’s the best piece of beauty advice you’ve gotten?
Taylor: Less is more : )
Jewel: That beauty comes from within. It’s an essence, not a look.
What’s your 24-hour plan for getting ready for a big event or photoshoot?
Taylor: Typically, I am behind the camera and not in front. If I have a big event or trip, I’ll get a Brazilian lymphatic massage, hydrafacial, and spray tan (if you can’t tone it, tan it!).
Jewel: A big event definitely calls for an intense workout to level up my detox protocol, a sculpting facial if I can make the time, and an epsom salt bath. I will add up to three pounds in one bath!
Post-soak, I massage in Infiore’s luxury Shevanti Body Balm. I’ve been using this for over a decade – it’s my go-to body product for locking in hydration and glow. The essential oils in the blend are spiritually, mentally and physically transformative.
What do you do when you want to reset, regroup, or detox?
Taylor: I detox daily with my Juna protocol but I also love a good spa day with a sauna, steam, massage, and cold plunge. I just got an infrared sauna for my house so I can do it more often!
Jewel: Detoxing and resetting are parts of my daily ritual. I incorporate Juna’s Detox chlorophyll drops into my water all day to push toxins through my body and boost oxygen to my blood. Every night when I get home from work I meditate for ten to twenty minutes. That grounds me and helps me transition from founder mode to mom mode.
What do you consider the ultimate form of self-care?
Taylor: A girls’ night out. I cherish my friendships and nothing energizes me more than spending time reconnecting with close friends.
Jewel: This has definitely changed over the years. Right now, the ultimate form of self-care is practicing gratitude. It keeps my vibrations high.
